The City will implement 20 total new miles of busways and bus lanes that will serve nearly 750,000 daily riders. This will increase bus speeds and reliability along major corridors in all five boroughs as the City reopens from COVID-19.

Busways

The City will add new busways similar to those on 14th Street.

Locations include:

• Queens: Main Street and Jamaica Avenue
• Brooklyn: Jay Street
• Manhattan: 181st Street and 5th Avenue

This pilot program will last one year. Busways will allow access to buses, trucks, and local cars.

The 14th Street busway is being made permanent.

Bus Lanes

New bus lanes will be added to:

• Manhattan: East 14th Street
• Bronx: 149th Street
• Staten Island: Hylan Boulevard
• Queens: Merrick Boulevard

New signs and street markings will be created.
