You can go to recreation centers throughout New York City for a variety of athletic and cultural programs. A valid picture ID is needed to register for a Recreation Center Membership.

Annual Membership fees are as follows:

  • Free for people under 18
  • Ages 18 through 24: $25
  • Ages 25 through 61: $150 at centers with pools and $100 at centers without pools
  • Ages 62 or older: $25
  • Veterans: $25
  • Person with a disability: $25
  • 6-month membership is also available for ages 25 through 61: $75 at centers with pool and $50 at centers without pool.

NYC Parks Afterschool Program provides children ages 6 to 13 the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities. The program takes place Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM.

All Recreation Centers are closed on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

All Recreation Centers will open at their regularly scheduled hours and close at 5:00 PM on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day Observed
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President's Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Election Day
  • Veteran's Day

Recreation Centers will be open at regularly scheduled times and close at 6 PM on the following days:

  • Lincoln's Birthday Observed (February 13)
  • Veteran's Day Observed (November 10)

Ocean Breeze Track and Field Athletic Complex and Flushing Meadows Corona Parks Aquatics Center may operate on different schedules.

NYC Parks offer leagues for all ages in various sports including:

  • Basketball
  • Flag Football
  • Bocce
  • Volleyball
  • Track and Field
