The Child Care Resource and Referral agency provides information and referrals for summer camps, day camps, and overnight camps in New York City and other locations in the metropolitan area. You will only receive referrals to New York City camps that hold a City permit.

Camps serve children 16 years of age and younger. Some camps are free and others are fee-based.

The Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) offers summer programs for elementary and middle school students.

Families with children up to age 4 can apply for year-round eligibility at an ACS-contracted NYC EarlyLearn Program. If eligible, families can use the assistance to cover the summer months.

The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) runs summer camp programs in recreation centers citywide for children ages 6 to 13. The age range varies at each site.

Field trips

Registration for the NYC Parks 2021 Summer Camp program opened on Friday, May 21 and ends on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Because of its popularity, registration for the 2021 summer camp program will be conducted by lottery.

Cost

Regular day camps from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM: $500

Extended day camps 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM: $575. This option is available for a limited number of slots at select camps in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.

New York City inspects licensed camps on a regular basis. You can make a complaint about a summer day camp, overnight camp, traveling camp, or municipal camp.

Complaints are investigated, and violations issued when appropriate. All camps with 10 or more children are required to have a permit from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
